Beverly Kay Robinson
Beverly Kay Robinson, 74, of Wilmington, died Feb. 27, 2009, at her home.
She was born May 7, 1934, in Wilmington, daughter of W. Riley Brown and Adah Qweneth Spencer of Martinsville. She was a devoted mother. While raising her five children, she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and graduated summa cum laude from Wilmington College. She worked as a social worker in Clinton County and worked at Columbus State Hospital. She also was director of women’s studies at Edison Community College in Ft. Myers, Fla. She will be missed by many. An avid letter writer, she remained in close contact with a large circle of friends from Wilmington High School. After living in Athens for several years, she recently returned to Wilmington to care for an ill son. Brilliant and an insatiable reader, she was a resource of knowledge to all who knew her and a counselor to many.
She is survived by two sons, Michael Peelle (Margret Adams) Robinson and Nicholas Carey (Rebecca Wipkey) Robinson of New Jersey; a daughter, Lisa Ellen (David) Clampitt of Minnesota; five grandchildren, Sarah Robinson, Emily and Alison Clampitt, and Riley and Harper Robinson.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, Roger Peelle Robinson, and two sons, Matthew Spencer and Christopher Adair Robinson.
