It’s a cold morning. We had a lot of snow yesterday and the neighborhood is still and frozen. Icicles are hanging from the house. Im wondering if I should knock them down. It reminds me of a day years ago in my old house. I was standing out front on the stoop. Above me was an awning with icicles. I was just standing there having a smoke when a few icicles few on my head. I moved a few feet away and it happened again. I looked up just in time to see our cat Snickers paw disappear. He was ambushing me and I didn’t even know he was up there.

He is a character. Often he would want to go outside. Many days there were legos on the kitchen table. He would get up there and like most cats do he would knock them off to get your attention. He was quite strategic about it though. Just slowly he would bat one an inch at a time. Every time getting closer to the edge. Hed look at you as if to say Im gonna do it. Youd better get up.

I left him there when we moved. My ex kept the house with 5 acres of Snickers hunting grounds. He often left a buffet of carnage on the step. I knew he would be miserable moving and becoming an inside cat so I left him there. Heartbreaking but it was what was best for him. My ex loves him too so I knew he would be fine. That was over 6 years ago and he’s dying now it sounds like. I will be sad to hear when hes gone but I know he had as good a life as a cat possibly could.
